Welcome to Colorado Springs

Where city living combines with majestic mountain beauty

Just south of Denver, you will find the majestic beauty of Colorado Springs. It is situated at the base of Pikes Peak and on the eastern edge of the Southern Rocky Mountains range — you always have something magical to see whether you're relaxing at home or exploring the city.

Colorado Springs' illustrious history dates back to before the Louisiana Purchase in 1803 when it was home to the Native Americans. However, it truly became the place to be when it was still the "Kansas Territory" when the Pikes Peak Gold Rush was in its prime. Today, it is a place of modern convenience and rustic beauty combined. Military families, retired veterans, and more spend their time here thanks to several nearby military bases.

Local Lifestyle

Life in Colorado Springs is whatever you want it to be, thanks to the abundance of sunshine enjoyed all year long. It allows people to truly embrace living their life outside in the mountains, and in one of the many parks in and around the city. Some residents even raise horses and spend their time riding through mountain or park trails. Others take advantage of the many parks and hiking trails by riding bikes, hiking, camping, and simply exploring the beauty around them. No matter what residents choose to do, the great outdoors play an important role in their everyday life.

With all the green space so close to the city, it truly is the best of both worlds combined. In fact, many residents can walk or bike to areas that provide exceptional outdoor adventures within just minutes of their homes.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

If you're not in the mood to go adventuring, you also have an unending list of shopping, dining, and entertainment options to explore. Most are also just moments away from home. At First & Main Town Center, visitors can dine, shop, or stop in for a movie at one of the local theaters.

The Promenade Shops at Briargate is another local favorite. It is an outdoor mall filled with exceptional stores and eateries. Here, you can get your nails done, shop for electronics, or apparel to wear when out on the town or exploring the surrounding nature.

The Chapel Hills Mall provides many options for retail shopping as well.

When it's dining you want, the hardest part is deciding where to go to satisfy your food cravings. There are tasty treats available from all over the world, as proven by the exclusive Edelweiss German Restaurant. For those who crave a little nightlife, The Rabbit Hole is sure to appease your craving for unique fun. It is an underground restaurant with virtually anything your taste buds want to savor, from steaks to shrimp.

There are endless options of wonderful restaurants in Colorado Springs, many with mountain views.  We would be happy to send you a list of our favorites!

Things to Do

If food and drinks aren't enough to satisfy your craving for a more active lifestyle, Colorado Springs has plenty more to see. One favorite for residents is a visit to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. The Association of Zoos and Aquariums accredits the zoo, and it is home to over 750 animals.

The Garden of the Gods is a popular tourist spot, but it is also a place that residents often visit. This awe-inspiring area with red rock peaks that reach toward the sky was designated as a National Natural Landmark in 1971. Another event residents enjoy is the Hot Air Balloon Festival. This event takes place at Memorial Park every September, and the balloons fill the air with breathtaking splendor.

If you're willing to travel just a couple of miles to Manitou Springs, the Manitou Cliff Dwellings are worth exploring. Although it's been reconstructed, it is considered a historical site that consists of ancestral Puebloan ruins. These ruins date back to between 800 and 1000 years ago.

Schools

Children who live in Colorado Springs are a part of several school districts, depending on where you live.  However, Colorado Springs also gives families the “School of Choice” option where you can apply to have your child attend a school outside of your designated neighborhood school, as long as you can provide transportation.

There are many private and charter schools as well, depending on what your child’s needs are.
